Our story | The Journey Behind Nyansapo Institute
Nyansapo Institute was founded by Michelle Amoako, a U.S.-based Systems Engineer with roots in Ghana, to empower youth through hands-on, high-impact STEM education. Inspired by the Akan symbol Nyansapo, meaning "the knot of wisdom," the institute was built on the belief that true intelligence lies not just in knowledge — but in the ability to apply it thoughtfully for the good of others.
Our Launch: The In-Person Bootcamp
After years of groundwork building curriculum, piloting programs, and working with students across Ghana and the U.S., Nyansapo Institute launched its first in-person STEM Summer Camp on August 12, 2024, in Accra, Ghana. The three-week camp offered hands-on learning in: Design Thinking, Python Coding, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Augmented & Virtual Reality, and 3D Design & Printing. Students explored tools like Tinkercad, Sphero robots, and iPads to bring their ideas to life — while also enjoying community-building activities like movie nights and dance sessions. The camp marked the beginning of a larger mission: to create joyful, high-impact STEM experiences rooted in both innovation and cultural pride.
Expanding Access: The Online Cohort
To make STEM education more accessible, the first Online Cohort launched from December 17, 2024, to January 24, 2025. It featured: Courses in 3D Design, Python Coding, and AWS Cloud Computing. Live weekend classes, weekly group check-ins, and one-on-one support. A blend of self-paced learning and collaborative mentorship. The program connected learners from Ghana and the U.S., building global bridges through technology and innovation.
Future Vision
Nyansapo Institute is growing — and so is our vision. We aim to expand our offerings, add cutting-edge courses, and continue nurturing the next generation of innovators and global tech leaders. Whether online or in-person, we’re committed to preparing students not just for the classroom — but for the future.
